Ask a Goan where he (or she!) is from and the name of the person's
ancestral village will automatically be mentioned. Goan's have strong
ties to their villages and continue to maintain their links with
them. Because Goa is such a small place, Goans are never far away
from their ancestral villages. Goan villages often have their own
peculiar festivals and traditions that continue to be zealously
preserved even today..
The Candolim Beach is one tourist destination that is far from
the madding crowds of the other beaches in the Beach Capital of
India Goa. The quiet resort is charming with the bountiful beauty
of nature. The white sandy beach is a major draw now though earlier
it used to be the hangout of the few travelers. The scrub-covered
dunes enhance the beauty of the straight and sandy Candolim beach.
While at the Candolim beach do not miss out the Aguada Fort. The
fort was built by the Portuguese way back in 1912 for defense against
the Dutch and the Maratha invaders. Along with the fort the church,
lighthouse and the barracks of the Aguada Jail have become tourist
attractions.
Take a plunge into swimming or just sun bathe. For the more adventurous
amongst you there is option of indulging in water sports like parasailing
and jet skiing.
Candolim is the place to be in to spend the evenings in the best
possible manner. You must check out the makeshift bars and restaurants
made from wood and palm leaves on the beachside.
Besides the fun for food there are several restaurants that offer
excellent seafood though the continental dishes are also available.
There are many eating joints in the hotels. Many accommodation facilities
are also available at the Candolim beach. A variety of hotels and
boarding houses dot the beach.
The captivating Candolim beach is well connected with the rest
of the places. The Dabolim airport provides the connectivity through
air. For road transport there are plenty of buses that ply between
Panaji, Calangute via Sinquerim.
Even though swimming is considered safe you must check out with
the lifeguards for the strength of the undercurrents.
Get ready to get charmed by the beauty of the Candolim beach!
